When Amber Rose initially cut her hair, she told Refinery 29 that she was inspired by women like Sinead O'Connor and Eve. Her friends tried to convince her not to do it, but she rebelled and ended up embracing her buzz cut. She's worn the style ever since, and that was more than 14 years ago. Since then, she's made an effort every now and then to switch up her hair. She did a lot of that on her VH1 series, The Amber Rose Show. "I never want my fans to be like, 'Hey, you have to stay bald-headed Amber for the rest of your life,'" she said. "It's unfair to me. I'm a girl. I love to experiment. I love to have fun. I miss having hair. It's been 14 years. I know people aren't used to seeing me with hair, and they get a bit weird about it, but I thought, 'Why not try it on TV, on my own show?'"
