These days it doesn’t matter if you’re a woman or a man. If a person leaves a marriage where their spouse ended up accruing much more money than they were ever able to get their hands on during the relationship, more than likely, they’ll want to leave with a cut.

The Talk co-host Aisha Tyler is learning that firsthand now that her marriage to Jeff Tietjens is over. The couple wed in 1992, so he’s been with Tyler from the very beginning, despite spending much of his time out of the spotlight. After separating in 2015, Tietjens filed for divorce in April 2016. According to TMZ, as part of her divorce settlement, Tyler has been ordered to pay her ex-husband $31,250 a month for the next four years, along with an additional lump sum of $500,000. That’s $2,000,000. But that’s not all Tietjens is walking away from his marriage with. He and Tyler will also reportedly split the money made from selling their home, and he will get to take their 2012 Lexus. As for the comedian, she will get a 2013 Tesla and get to keep her companies to herself — BTDO Media and Hot Machine.

Tyler spoke about the demise of her marriage on The Talk following Tietjens’s decision to file in 2016.

“My husband and I met when I was a teenager and I’ve been with him for more than half of my adult life,” she said. “It’s very hard when you love someone very much to also start to realize that maybe you want different things for your lives.”

“I don’t, not in any way see this relationship as a failure,” Tyler added. “We loved each other passionately and we lived life fully and we’re trying to let each other go in the kindest way we possibly can … that’s what I’m going to say about the relationship and the rest of it is none of your damn business!”
